It all started with the impressionists who took their paints and easel outside and started painting the world around them.

Their process of “plein air” painting not only changed the course of western art, it also changed the way viewers saw the world around them.

Very soon after Impressionism the movements of abstract art, photography and film exploded on the scene. These forms of media transformed our culture and helped usher in modernism.

But while we gained conveniences and new forms of expression through media technologies we also lost the patience to see the world around us.

Returning to landscape painting, a practice central to traditional Chinese philosophy as well, is a way to return to a de-digitized form of seeing.

The Eidos platform takes the techniques and methods developed by the impressionists and adapts them to our world today.
